Most of my points and observations in this post are going to be explanations from a conversation I had with some corpmates and ex-Aduro late last night. Let me preface this rant with these statements: [ 2008.05.20 01:17:58 ] Agramen > he's [Siigari] his own worst enemy.? ? That being said, this isn't going to completely be a slam of Siig. First my vote on the corp mail: A very strong abstain . Or an option 3) none of the above . I'm slowly coming to the opinion that with the lofty goals laid out before us by Siig, that no one person should be at the helm. If nothing else, Siig's internet outage has shown the corp probably needs a whole host of "do-ers" at the helm. I heard CaptainSeafort tried to get things together for the POS shoot, and that's great. Sorry once again for not showing, but summer flu's are a bitch . Siig isn't the best [corp] leader, but he has been a driving force behind Aduro. His ideas may be over the top, maybe even unreasonable at times, but he has been able to get people to show up and get things done. At the same time he can demotivate as well when he goes into, "ZOMG I NEED YOU NOW!" mode. I work tech support at a university, Siig's a pussycat compared to some of the irate unreasonable professors I have to deal with. Some people aren't as quick to say, "fuck it, it's a game, I need sleep before work." I'm a slacker and a carebear, and I still flew 20-something jumps in a rocket kessie to have some fun losing it to a war. At the same time, I bailed on the second leg of a "just for fun" foray into 0.0 when I needed sleep for work the next day. Siig isn't a bad FC either, my fleet experiences with him have been fairly orderly. Hell, he even got a corp congo line going around a POS once! ;^) Some will cite our low sec POS shoot at this point, and I'll rehash it because I makes my point: We dec'ed a corp with a really sweet low sec research POS, lightly defended. Ordered us to fit a little tank and be aligned in case something came up. Well something did come up, some ev0ke guys showed up for some fun at our expense. Well the evac order was given, but by that time myself and someone else was locked down before we could run. Well, one of thier inty's got webbed by the tower and I was able to shove a cruise missile up his ass and they fled. So we go back to shooting the POS. There's some friendly banter in local. A cyno pops up. A Nyx is scanned nearby. At this point, after this learning experience, with the ships we had (mostly gank and almost no support) I'd say bug out and regroup/refit. Instead we stayed and Crazy and someone else got their POS BS popped by the Inty's and the off-grid Nyx, via assigned fighters. Hell, before that I had no idea you could do crap like that. Hindsight is 20-20, now it's clear that when we popped the Crow they were feeling us out and the rest is history. The point I'm trying to make with this story, is that Siig's "drive" gets things done, but when untempered by the input and common sense of others it becomes a problem. ---- That's as far as I got before I got distracted... oh, look! shiny-- AHEM, but other points I was going to make: Diplomacy - Unless it's gunboat diplomacy, someone else should probably handle that business. You're good at getting ransoms, but unless I've been missing things a lot of the friendlier deals have been arranged by others... I know someone in the thread gave Johhny credit for KW space access. And someone else managed to find out more precise reasons why we got the boot. Security - I know I've mentioned this before, but you... no, everyone, needs a basic education in guild/corp security. When posting something public, blur or black out chat channels, systems names, player names. If I remember correctly, one of your exploration vids was in the Tisot/Naga area, and had the chat channels up. Open book for people looking for intel on the corp, they could get character names and find out where we hang out from just that one vid. I know you're not the only one, I know I've gotten after other ppl posting unedited screenshots. Hell, when I lived in Nonni and TRI was doing almost 23/7 gatecamps in Aunenen, I was using thier killboard for intel. Till they made the system info "Classified". And that goes for making people directors. I've been playing with corp roles in a side project, you can give people VERY powerful powers and still cover the corp's ass, w/o making people directors. Excitablity/Vengence issues - There are times, upon closer analysis, some of or corp decisions are not driven by our goals but by personal issues. The hit at T5R's alt corp, and I remember Sal bringing up something about wardeccing an ex-gf's corp a long time ago that I feel didn't need to be brought up.. While Siig is excitable, I feel Sal is creating unnecessary drama to make Siig uncomfortable and push him out. I know Siig won't succumb to that though, as he is goal-oriented and motivated. All in all, this may all sound overly harsh, but that's why I'm sending it to you privately. And no, I'm not looking to be a director, either. I have enough RL issues to deal with, I play to unwind. I'm quite the slacker-superhero, too.
